Thug Life turned out to be one of the biggest flops of the year, despite bringing Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam together after 38 years.
The film received a poor response and barely saw any audience during its first weekend. Even though Netflix bought the digital rights for a high price, mainly due to Mani Ratnam’s earlier successful films like Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2, the deal has now been cancelled.
Initially, the plan was to stream Thug Life on Netflix eight weeks after its theatrical release.
But since the film performed so badly at the box office, it will now release on OTT much earlier. Netflix is expected to announce the new streaming date soon.
The film stars Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Simbu, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Sanya Malhotra, Joju George, Nassar, and Ali Fazal in key roles. It is an action drama that failed to meet expectations.
