In the past, Nayanthara faced intense criticism for the lip-lock sequence in the movie Thirunaal 2016. The filmmaker defended the scene, though.
Nayanthara is a well-known and significant actress in South Indian cinema. She is well known for her tremendous talent, her range, and her captivating on-screen personality, but she also frequently made news for other reasons.
The actress faced a severe reaction in 2016 after a scene from her movie Thirunaal was released. A schoolboy was seen kissing the actress in the released film.
There have been articles in the press criticizing the director for taking advantage of children’s naivety and painting them in a negative light after the Nayanthara-starring video went viral. On the other hand, some people in society believe that this claim is disputable.
The film Thirunaal marks PS Ramnath’s second attempt at directing. According to a report the filmmaker responded to the uproar by saying, “This is just a short, amusing sequence in the movie. Nayanthara would not have agreed to do it if it had been improper. This is a very informal atmosphere, and nowadays, young children participate in a variety of activities. They will not quit doing certain activities, no matter what. There isn’t much need to discuss this scene. If it had been a much older child, that might have drawn a lot of attention. He’s a little child in this instance, thus if it were inappropriate, the censor board would have requested that it be taken out.
Women’s and children’s activists appear to be behind director Ramnath as well. “In a movie, depiction of scenes will depend on the storyline, and if a child is locking lips, I don’t think there’s anything wrong,” lawyer Sudha Ramalingam said. You don’t have to relate everything to sexuality. Children can be seen kissing their sisters and mothers. Do you intend to indicate that it has a sexual component? I don’t observe anything comparable. The same principle applies here: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
The majority of individuals didn’t seem to find anything offensive in what the child did and appeared to have accepted it as cute and innocent. “The scene was just too cute, both the boy’s and Nayanthara’s reactions were nice, and if you see the movie, you will understand that the scene was just to show how Nayanthara’s character is in the movie – a simple, loving teacher,” said Ramkrishna, who saw the movie.
