Nassar recently mentioned that film sets today are much safer for women compared to the 80s. He explained that filmmakers have worked hard to create a respectful and professional environment by introducing rules and guidelines.
In an interview, Nassar said, “Back in the 80s, we focused mainly on making movies, with fewer safety measures, especially during stunts and dance scenes.
Now, safety is a must not just physical safety but also psychological. There are rules on how to behave with women, and everyone feels safe now”.
This positive change is linked to the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry, leading to important reforms.
The Kerala government recently released this report, 4 years after its submission.
