When it was announced that Venkatesh would be seen in the remake of the blockbuster Tamil film Asuran, which featured Dhanush in the original, there were a lot of mixed responses, given the subject matter, and Dhanush’s outstanding performance in the original.
When the first look of Venkatesh’s, from Narappa was released, the response from audiences turned out to be positive, with audiences and fans hopeful of watching the film. While the expectations on the film were good, after producer Suresh Babu announced that Narappa would release on OTT directly, fans were not very welcoming of the news and the producer received a lot of backlash. However, Suresh Babu went ahead with a direct OTT release, keeping in mid the current situations.
Narappa has remained to be a faithful remake, but fans of the original did not find the film satisfying enough. Despite the unavoidable comparisons with the original, Venkatesh’s performance received accolades from everywhere. Inspite of so many mixed responses, it is now being said that Narappa has been watched on Amazon Prime in over 180 countries across the globe, which is nothing short of a massive success for Amazon Prime, and also the producers of the film. This is a huge indication of the film and its release on OTT being a grand success, contrary to popular opinions.
