Nani recently expressed his disappointment about the National Awards 2023. His disappointment became public knowledge when he posted a broken heart emoji on his Instagram story to convey his dissatisfaction with the fact that the film “Jai Bhim” didn’t win an award at the National Awards.
While some media outlets reported that Nani was feeling anxious about the recognition of Kollywood (Tamil cinema) and dissatisfied with Tollywood’s (Telugu cinema) victories, he took the opportunity to clarify his stance during the India Today Telangana Roundtable event. Nani made it clear that his words had been taken out of context, and he was actually quite happy with the achievements of Telugu cinema.
Nani even went on to congratulate the teams behind successful Telugu films like “RRR,” “Pushpa,” and “Uppena” for their victories at the prestigious awards. He expressed his happiness for his fellow actor, Allu Arjun, who became the first Telugu actor to win the Best Actor award.
Nani emphasized that he greatly appreciated “Jai Bhim” and believed it to be one of the best films made. He felt that it deserved recognition in at least one category. Nani compared his feelings to a situation where his sister achieved something and his cousin from next door didn’t. He would naturally express happiness for his sister’s success while feeling a sense of sadness for his cousin.
