The late announcement of Nandi Awards for 2012 and 2013 years, have come up with more surprises. The best picture winners of 2012 like Minugurulu, Midhunam were well appreciated and deserved, several fans are not happy with Eega given Golden Nandi while they feel there are other films that deserved the honor. Fans are happy with Sudeepa getting the recognition for his brilliant performance were wondering if there are no good performances than Nani and Samantha for 2012.
The 2013 winners have caused even more bigger discussion. Mirchi was given a ‘A’ certificate and generally such certified movies are not considered for best picture in any case. But the movie was awarded Golden Nandi and National Award winner, Naa Bangaru Talli got second best picture award. Even Prabhas selection for the best actor sprung up lot of speculations from onlookers with Krishnam Raju being in the deciding jury. Pawan Kalyan fans felt their hero should have been given the award along with Attharintiki Daredi or Seethamma Vakitlo Srimalle Chettu becoming the best pictures than Mirchi.
Even in 2012, a devotional movie like Shirdi Sai was snubbed and only one award that too for a song was given to Shankar Mahadevan. Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu becoming such hot favorite of jury become even more surprising for fans and common audience as well. After almost 5 years after their releases, the merits and demerits of the films awarded were being discussed and many have tabbed them to be biased and not worthy. All in All, government’s decision to honor good films should not have given rise to such discussion.
