Nagarjuna’s Shiva became a trendsetter and inspired many filmmakers. Ram Gopal Varma(RGV) who made his directorial debut with the film created magic that continues to influence Indian cinema.
As the movie will re-release on November 14th RGV recalled that music was one of the toughest challenges during production. “With Dolby Atmos, every sound can now be experienced fully. Shiva has always belonged to Nagarjuna”, he said.
Sharing his inspiration, RGV revealed, “I was a huge Bruce Lee fan. While watching Return of the Dragon, I replaced the restaurant setting with a college and wrote Shiva’s one-line idea in 20 minutes”.
He also added that he would approach Nagarjuna again only after scoring another hit.
Nagarjuna shared, “Watching Shiva again felt like a new film. My father called it a huge hit”. When asked about a remake, he laughed, saying, “Chaitanya and Akhil don’t have the guts to remake Shiva”.
