Varun Sandesh and Shweta Basu Prasad, who impressed audiences with Kotha Bangaru Lokam, have reunited after nearly 18 years for Na Wife Missing. The mystery thriller premiered directly on Aha on Thursday. Directed by Swathi Prakash Manthiripragada and produced by Shiva Kanthamneni, the film marks another collaboration between the popular pair. Has their latest film recreated the magic of their previous blockbuster?
Na Wife Missing Story: Balu (Varun Sandesh) marries Swapna (Shweta Basu Prasad), who loves another man, Aban (Mohit Pedada). When Swapna plans to leave with Aban, Balu agrees.
However, she suddenly disappears, and Balu is arrested. After his release, he discovers that Swapna is missing from Aban’s life too. SI Ravi (Praveen) suspects both men. The story follows the mystery behind Swapna’s disappearance and the truth about her relationships.
Performances: Varun Sandesh delivers a natural performance as a loving husband, while Shweta Basu Prasad impresses with her character’s different shades. Their chemistry works well. Comedian Praveen stands out with a key twist in his character. Satya Sri and Mohit Pedada deliver decent performances.
Technical Aspects: Swathi Prakash Manthiripragada blends family emotions with a thriller plot, but only a few twists create excitement. Some scenes lack logic. Sai Karthik’s background score and Satish Kumar’s cinematography are the film’s strengths. However, the limited budget affects production quality in some places.
Analysis: Na Wife Missing relies heavily on its climax twist, which feels familiar. The interval twist creates curiosity, and the second half focuses on Balu’s investigation. Its short runtime and villain casting work in its favour. Overall, it is a passable thriller with limited surprises.
Verdict: Na Wife Missing offers a few engaging twists and a short runtime, but its predictable storyline and familiar climax limit its overall impact.
Bottom Line: A Predictable Thriller With Few Surprises.
Rating: 2/5
