Following the failure of Zanjeer, Apoorva Lakhia discussed his friendship with Ram Charan in a recent interview.
Ram Charan and filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia were co-stars in the 2013 movie Zanjeer, and they had a lovely friendship. The movie, however, had a terrible box office performance. What about their relationship, though? Now, the director has spoken up about how their friendship developed after the failure of the movie and expressed her displeasure with the actor’s poor habit.
For the uninitiated, Ram made his Bollywood debut with the movie Zanjeer, costarring Priyanka Chopra. It couldn’t, however, have much of an effect on the box office. However, once his film RRR’s OST Naatu Naatu won an Oscar, Charan became a household name.
Apoorva Lakhia admitted to Siddharth Kannan that Ram Charan’s box office flop had no effect on their friendship, but that the actor never returned his calls. “Ram Charan is a really good friend of mine,” he declared. In fact, despite the fact that Zanjeer did poorly (at the box office), I frequently went to his home in Hyderabad and remained there. However, he no longer returns my calls. Phone ke nahi, pata nahi, badal gaya… Upasana, his wife, responds, but he does not.
When asked if Ram Charan received any messages from him during RRR, Apoorva Lakhia responded, “He contacted me from Ukraine and asked me what I was up to. I told him I wasn’t doing (something significant). ‘I need to shoot two or three action sequences of the second unit, can you come and do it?’ he asked. Yes, I’ll get back to you, I responded. He then called once more and enquired, “Can you?” I was unable to go since I was filming or working on something. I believe it was the last time I spoke to him. He occasionally calls me, but he doesn’t pick up.
