Tamil hit DNA, starring Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan, directed by Nelson Venkatesan, has been dubbed into Telugu as My Baby by Suresh Kondeti. Let’s see how it fares with Telugu audiences.

My Baby Movie Story: Anand (Atharvaa), heartbroken after losing his lover, falls into bad habits and depression. Later, he finds hope by marrying Divya (Nimisha Sajayan), who has mild mental health issues, and starts a new life.

When Divya becomes pregnant, the family is overjoyed. But just an hour after childbirth, Divya claims the baby isn’t theirs. Shocked, the family returns home, and a DNA test confirms her suspicion.

Anand then sets out to uncover the truth, what happened to their real baby, whose child they have, and who is behind the swap. My Baby is all about his emotional and thrilling journey for answers.

Performances: Despite the presence of many seasoned actors, Nimisha Sajayan stole the show with her emotional and realistic performance, especially as a mother forced to give up her baby. Atharvaa impressed with his mature portrayal in intense scenes. Manasa Chaudhary did fine in her brief role. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub was good, though his character lacked deeper impact.

Technical Aspects: My Baby tells a simple story, but its emotional presentation stands out as the film’s strongest point. Though the twist is revealed early, it works well as a hook to engage viewers.

Director Nelson Venkatesan effectively mixes thriller elements with mother sentiment. Telugu songs lack charm, and better audio quality was needed. Editing is good, and technical aspects are well-handled.

Analysis: My Baby starts off simple but delivers a strong emotional impact by the end. With commercial elements and balanced mother sentiment, it connects well with the audience. However, as the Tamil version streams on Hotstar from July 19, just a day after the Telugu release, audience interest in theatres remains uncertain.

Verdict: My Baby is a simple, emotional thriller with good performances and engaging narration. Worth a watch, but the early OTT release might affect its theatre response.

Bottom Line: Emotional thriller.
