Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced yesterday that the main road in Nungambakkam’s Kamdar Nagar, Chennai, where famous playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam lived, will be renamed SPB Road in his memory. This announcement was made on the fourth anniversary of his passing.
A press release from the Chief Minister’s office highlighted SPB’s incredible contributions, mentioning that he sang over 40,000 songs in many languages, brought joy to the hearts of Tamil people for more than 50 years, composed music, acted in films, and received prestigious awards like the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan. Even though he passed away, his legacy continues to live on.
SPB’s son, singer and producer SP Charan, expressed his gratitude to the Tamil Nadu government for this honor.
SP Balasubrahmanyam sadly passed away on September 25th, after battling COVID-19 and related health issues, leaving millions of his fans heartbroken.
