Mira Nair’s upcoming film Amri is based on the life of legendary painter Amrita Sher-Gil. The first look of Anjali Sivaraman who plays the lead role has been released.
Priyanka Chopra is the executive producer and also appears in a cameo. The film tells the story of Amrita Sher-Gil who is one of India’s most important modern artists.
Set across Hungary, France and India, it shows how her life experiences shaped her art and identity. The cast includes Emily Watson, Jaideep Ahlawat, Jim Sarbh and Anjana Vasan.
Mira said Amrita’s work deeply influenced her filmmaking style.
The film will explore Amrita’s creativity, emotions, struggles and bold personality, along with her unique way of blending European and Indian art styles.
