Milkha Singh to be Paid Tribute by Special Screening of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Bhaag To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Milkha Bhaag, a special screening of the Farhan Akhtar-starring film will be held.

The film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,” directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and starring Farhan Akhtar as Indian track and field sprinter Milkha Singh, recently celebrated ten years since its debut.

A special screening of the movie will now be held in memory of the late Milkha Singh by the film’s creators.

The film, which was released in 2013, captured the motivational journey of the late Milkha Singh and demonstrated how he overcame many trying circumstances, such as becoming an orphan at a young age during the Partition of India, to overcome them all and find success in the world of track and field sprinting.

Through his voyage, he achieved Olympic success, became a world champion, and established himself as one of India’s most famous athletes, earning the moniker “The Flying Sikh.”

With this special showing on July 26, we are paying homage to the late Milkha Singh, the nation’s Flying Sikh and a source of pride for our nation. He is an inspiration to millions of people.

The only athlete to win the 400-meter gold medal at both the Asian and Commonwealth Games is Milkha Singh.

He also took home gold at the Asian Games in 1958 and 1962. He competed for India at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics, the 1960 Rome Summer Olympics, and the 1964 Los Angeles Summer Olympics in tokyo

For his athletic accomplishments, he received the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian distinction.

Jawaharlal Nehru convinced Singh to put aside his negative memories of the Partition era in order to compete in 1960 against Abdul Khaliq in Pakistan, when a post-race remark made by the Pakistani general in office at the time earned him the nickname “The Flying Sikh.”

Five days after his wife, Nirmal Saini, Milkha Singh passed away on June 18, 2021, at the age of 91 due to complications from Covid-19.
