Popular Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika passed away on May 16th at the age of 44 due to colon cancer, leaving the music world in deep sorrow.
She breathed her last at Nemcare Hospitals in Guwahati, where she had been undergoing treatment. Her health worsened a few days ago, and she was moved to the ICU, where she passed away at 2:15 pm, according to the hospital’s director, Dr. Hitesh Baruah.
Gayatri was loved for her beautiful and soulful voice. Her song “Xora Pate Pate Phagun Naame” is especially cherished by fans and is one of her most well-known works. Her sudden demise has shocked her admirers and the music industry in Assam.
Her mortal remains will be kept at the AASU headquarters (Swahid Nyas) from 6 to 8 pm for public homage. The cremation will take place at the Nabagraha crematorium. She will be remembered dearly.
