May 4th is celebrated as the Director’s Day Director’s Day in Telugu Cinema as it is the birth anniversary of Dasari Narayana Rao, who changed the complexion of Telugu Cinema with his films. He directed 150 films in his career and introduced several directors who made 50 films or more each. Until Ram Gopal Varma came into picture, if there is a factory in Telugu Cinema that is producing constant films and directors, then that is Dasari school. He did not literally establish one but he used to treat his film sets as Dasari school and his assistants call him as their teacher forever.
Megastar Chiranjeevi and Dasari Narayana Rao were always said to be fighting with each other because of the community based one upmanship. They both belong to same community and who is the head of the community, became a clash triggering point say few political papers. But two of them maintained that they belong to films and they don’t have any outside interests ever. They also maintained that respect each other and if they exchange few words that is out of respect but not to undermine the other. Well, Megastar proved that by giving such a moving tribute to Dasari. He tweeted,
“దా..దానంలో కర్ణుడుమీరు
This was my last memory of Guruvu garu.We miss u Sir #LastPressmeet #Dasari
(Dasari means – Karna when it comes to donations, Arjundu when it comes to being determined, ability to achieve anything and Dhramaraju when it comes to not having any enemies. Your spirit will always be an inspiration for all of us, even after your death. Sir, your life will be a guiding force for all next generation young directors)”
