After a humble beginning has a pickle seller, with true grit and confidence, he achieved the heights that no one could imagine possible with such a beginning. He started Margadarshi chit funds, with the profits of his pickle business and in no time became hugely popular with his customer friendly schemes and credibility.After achieving success in both his initial steps, he took a big gamble by starting the newspaper , Eenadu under Ushodaya Enterprises and knocked the big wigs like Andhra bhoomi, Andhra jyothi, Andhra pathrika and Udayam out of the competition and rose very rapidly.

The Eenadu daily, with it’s unique style of writing and reporting, still holds the top spot among the newspaper circulation even after 35 years of it’s inception.The newspaper success gave him more confidence and he decided to pursue the business of filmmaking further. He started Usha Kiron Movies production house, established a corporate style storyboard and infrastructure to bring new films, socially relevant subjects to the foray with entertainment.His movies proved to be different and innovative with high production values. He brought the life stories of Ashwini Nachappa, Sudha Chandran and many more suppressed and oppressed people with films like People’s Encounter, Ashwini, Mayuri.

He also made entertaining films with social causes like Srivariki Premalekha. Even to the young generation of today, he made movies like Nuvve Kavali, Anandam to name a few.He launched the TV channel group Eenadu Television Network, Popularly known as ETV and brought many more stories to the television screen and provided wholesome entertainment.His lasting contribution to the film industry is the Asia’s Largest Studio, Ramoji Film City. The studio became a tourist attraction and shooting place for many Indian films like Bahubali, Chennai Express, Dilwale and many more.Owing to his contributions, Indian Government honored him with Padma Vibhushan award. Adding to his long list of accolades, Indywood Film Carnival Management honored him with the Life Time Achievement award on the closing day!
