Telugu audiences are showing growing interest in web series. After the success of Brinda, a new political drama, Mayasabha, directed by Deva Katta, has been released. Inspired by Telugu political figures, the 9-episode series is now being judged on how well it connects with viewers.

Mayasabha Web Series Story: Krishnam Naidu values people over caste, while M.S.R. believes in serving society without compromising caste identity. Circumstances bring them together as friends, but politics turns them into rivals. The series explores how this transformation happens and how they face the challenges that follow.

Performances: Though all actors performed well, Chaitanya Rao stood out with his natural appearance, accent, and emotional depth. Aadhi Pinisetty delivered a strong performance, showing the inner struggles of his role with great effort.

Sai Kumar impressed with his powerful voice, while Tanya Ravichandran and Divya Dutta added charm and value. Shankar Mahanti as Shivareddy stole the show with a memorable performance despite limited screen time. Roles of Nassar, Srikanth Iyengar, and Shatru may be explored more in Season 2.

Technical Aspects: Mayasabha impresses technically with natural production design, realistic costumes, and smart use of AI especially in the train episodes. Thaman’s background score, particularly the ‘Sahodara’ track, stands out. Cinematography and editing are solid, with consistent lighting despite having two DOPs.

Directors Deva Katta and Kiran played it safe in Season 1, adding drama while drawing inspiration from real events. While politically aware viewers may spot gaps, the series is engaging overall. The setup for Season 2 is strong, making this a solid political drama for Telugu audiences.

Analysis: Some stories are too bold or complex for cinema, and Mayasabha is a great example of how web series can handle such topics. If made as a film, it would’ve faced heavy censor cuts. With Telugu politics rarely explored in depth, this series feels fresh and engaging. Though it may receive mixed opinions, that only adds to its publicity. If you set aside the debates, Mayasabha is a gripping 9-episode political drama worth binge-watching on Sony LIV this weekend.

Verdict: Mayasabha is a bold and engaging political drama with strong performances and solid technical quality. While it may spark mixed opinions, it’s a refreshing watch for Telugu audiences.

Bottom Line: Bold, gripping, political drama worth your time.

Rating: 3.5/5
