Director Karuna Kumar, known for his previous films “Palasa” and “Sridevi Soda Center“, is making his first film with Varun Tej.
The movie has generated a positive response and is set to release on November 14th. The story is based on real events from the 1970 and 1980s in Vizag.
Director Karuna described it as a commercial film with the right sensibilities, not an off-beat film.
He shared that during a family function, he heard stories about gambling activities and disco bars in Vizag during the 1970s. This sparked his interest and led him to research Matka gambling.
Karuna Kumar said, “I created a screenplay based on it, and after 12 drafts, we began filming. We were very careful with the script”.
“Matka” features Nora Fatehi and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead female roles.
