Ace director SS Rajamouli’s pre-independence patriotic drama, RRR is gaining solid momentum among the trade circles with each passing day. Starring NTR Junior and Ram Charan in the lead roles, the film’s pre-release business has created a new record in the Indian market, say trade circles.
As per the sources, the film’s theatrical business has fetched a massive of about Rs 570 crores through various regions across the country. Reportedly, the film’s theatrical rights for both Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were sold for a whopping of Rs 240 crores. On the other hand, the theatrical rights for South states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala fetched 48 crore, 45 crore and 15 crore respectively.
Coming to the North India market, RRR’s theatrical rights are sold for Rs 140 crore and the overseas rights for all languages have fetched another Rs 70 crore for the makers.
As per the industry grapevine, the digital rights of RRR for all languages have fetched Rs 170 crore and the satellite rights of this highly-anticipated film ( for all languages) have been sold for Rs 130 crore. Lastly, the film’s audio and music rights pegged Rs 20 crore from various streaming platforms.
By considering the above figures, it is evident that RRR has made a massive pre-release business of close to Rs 900 which is almost 40 percent more than SS Rajamouli’s 2017 film, Baahubali- The Conclusion, which made a record pre-release business of Rs 500 back then.
Coming to RRR, the film’s estimated budget is said to be approximately Rs 400 crore which means that the film’s producer is already witnessing a table profit of about Rs 500 crore months before the release of the film.
Just by blindly trusting Rajamouli’s directional capabilities, distributors and exhibitors from all regions have invested a huge amount in RRR even by ignoring the Covid-19 testing times. At this crucial point in time, will Rajamouli and his team manage to put a smile on the buyers’ faces? Well, to know that we have to wait and see for October 13, 2021, as the magnum opus is gearing up to hit the screens on the same day.
