Maruthi Urges Filmmakers To Avoid Cheap Publicity Gimmicks

Maruthi has criticized the way some filmmakers are promoting their movies with exaggerated or controversial statements.

Speaking at the promotional event of Beauty he said it is sad to see filmmakers making promises like quitting the industry, removing shirts or abusing audiences just to create hype. He called it a harmful trend that should stop.

Maruthi shared how Beauty director Siva Sai Vardhan was upset after his film Bhale Unnade failed. Wanting to encourage him, Maruthi immediately offered him a new project. “I prefer motivating directors who face flops rather than attending parties”, he said.

He also recalled the case of Barbarik, where he advised a title change, but the director refused, leading to its failure.

Maruthi once known for double-meaning dialogues in Ee Rojullo, later shifted to family films like Bhale Bhale Magadivoi. Now, he is making The Raja Saab with Prabhas and urged directors to focus on quality cinema over cheap publicity.
