Maruthi has seen both hits and flops in his career, but one thing always stayed the same. His films were usually completed on time, within budget and as planned. Because of this his projects were mostly profitable for producers.

So, when the combination of Prabhas and Maruthi was announced it came as a big surprise in Tollywood. The Raja Saab has been in the making for more than three years mainly because of Prabhas busy schedule and gaps between shoots.

Due to these delays huge sets had to be maintained for a long time, which increased the budget heavily. Maruthi had very little control over the expenses, as Prabhas had to balance multiple films at the same time.

Shooting schedules were often finalized at the last moment, leaving Maruthi unable to use his full potential. High actor fees, delays and borrowed money further increased costs.
