Manoj Bajpayee had had suicidal thoughts as a result of NSD rejection; recently, the actor spoke out about it.
Unquestionably one of the best actors in India is Manoj Bajpayee. The seasoned actor has made a name for himself in the entertainment world by choosing scripts that go against the grain and giving memorable performances. Manoj has established himself not just in the realm of movies but also online. But there was a point when the actor had suicidal thoughts as a result of being rejected by NSD.
The seasoned actor dabbled in a variety of endeavours, but he also dreamed of making acting his profession. He had the National School of Theatre in Delhi in mind for it. He had desired to be there ever since his school days, but NSD has repeatedly turned him down. He did experience melancholy as a result of this rejection, as Manoj just revealed.
Manoj Bajpayee shared his NSD rejection story. He said, “By the time I went to the National School of Drama, I had become quite experienced during those 3 years but still I was rejected. Following that for a duration of one month I felt like everything of mine has been taken away because I never had a Plan B. I never make a Plan B. After that for a month my friends supported me and got me out of depression and I started looking for a new path. Ultimately, in Mandi House, a theatre group of NSD alumni was doing a 365-day workshop, which I joined. I learned a lot there.”
Manoj Bajpayee also revealed he once suffered from a suicidal thought during the depression phase. “I went into such a depression where I didn’t know how to face the near and dear ones. And when you only have one plan, you feel as if all doors have been closed. It was during this time that I had a passing suicidal thought that people made headlines out of. But that wasn’t the case, it was just a passing thought that people experience while depressed
The actor also emphasised the value of family, which serves as a support system when a person is going through a difficult time.
In terms of work, today marks the release of Manoj Bajpayee’s Gulmohar on Disney+ Hotstar, which also stars Sharmila Tagore, Amol Palekar, and others.
