Manoj Bajpayee spoke candidly about the difficult time he went through as an outsider early in his career in an interview.
Over the years, Manoj Bajpayee has demonstrated his talent as an actor and his versatility. His early years, meanwhile, were not all sunshine and flowers. To get to where he is now, he had to endure a lot. But, the actor recently discussed his most difficult time and described how he overcame it in an interview. To learn more, scroll down below!
Manoj is currently engaged in promotional work for his upcoming film Gulmohar, in which he will appear alongside seasoned actress Sharmila Tagore. He last appeared in Family Man 2, a web series.
Manoj Bajpayee opened up to Ranveer Allahbadia (Beer Biceps) about his challenges before entering the film industry and after moving to Mumbai to pursue a career as an actor. The toughest days of my life began when I left Delhi for Bombay, he claimed. I used to work 18-hour days in Delhi and occasionally went without pay, but I always felt happy and creatively fulfilled. We were unsure of the source of our meals. We would walk for 10 kilometres because we didn’t even have money for the bus. Others would think I was insane when I kept training my English because I didn’t speak it well. Yet, despite all the challenges, I was occupied. Yet, when I came to Mumbai, there was no work—no money, and no food.”
As the interview continued, Manoj Bajpayee even recounted how he suffered verbal abuse when he first started his career and went to production houses to ask for jobs. The hardest time in your life is when you start doubting yourself, he observed when discussing the dark period in his life. The hardest part of this was when I kept evaluating myself to determine if I was competent enough to perform. I used to get sick a lot and had no money. When I used to visit filming locations, I would often face harassment. I was a stranger. After much conversation, I eventually identified roles.
Following Satya, Manoj received a different kind of adulation that made his acting career worthwhile. Nobody was offering me anything, he continued. The movies that are now regarded as my finest weren’t commercially successful when they were released. In our industry, a subpar movie could end up being popular, and subsequent movies would follow the same pattern. But, a decent one won’t be successful at the box office, forcing stars to stay home. Whenever I used to attend events, cameramen, reporters, and anchors would simply turn the mic away from me without even looking at me.
Manoj Bajpayee undoubtedly had to overcome many obstacles in order to build out a successful career in the industry, but he persevered and is now renowned for his iconic parts and performances.
