Thug Life has had a strong emotional impact on both Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam who reunited after 38 years. The film did not meet expectations especially from fans who hoped for another classic like Nayakan.
Responding to the backlash Mani Ratnam said “We never intended to recreate Nayakan. We wanted to try something completely new. The issue wasn’t just high expectations, it was a misunderstanding about what we were offering”.
While Mani is preparing for his next project, Kamal Haasan has decided to take a break.
A close source revealed, “The failure of Thug Life affected Kamal deeply. He truly believed he and Mani were creating something special. The immediate criticism was unexpected and disheartening”.
Is Kamal turning to politics? Not exactly. He has currently stepped away from all public appearances and hasn’t confirmed any upcoming plans. His future course whether in films or politics, remains undecided for now.
