Manchu Vishnu’s Ambitious Take On Ravana’s Journey

Manchu Vishnu, who recently made a big-budget film Kannappa based on a devotee of Lord Shiva, now plans to make a movie on Ramayana from Ravana’s perspective.

He revealed in a recent interview that this idea has been with him for many years. The film was supposed to be directed by veteran Raghavendra Rao, with his father Mohan Babu playing Ravana.

Vishnu even approached Suriya for Lord Ram’s role but couldn’t proceed due to budget issues. He mentioned that the script and dialogues are already ready.

If the film materializes, Vishnu said he would like to cast Suriya and Alia Bhatt as Ram and Sita, Kalyan Ram as Lakshman, and Sathyaraj as Jatayu.

Meanwhile, Kannappa, released last month with several big stars and received a good response everywhere.

But it collected only Rs. 41 crores worldwide and ended as a loss-making project, despite its mythological theme and high expectations.
