The legendary comic and character actor, 75, was given a cancer diagnosis a number of years ago.

Innocent had reportedly fallen, and as a result, his health had gotten worse.

For a number of years, he presided over the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).

The seasoned actor, whose film career began as a producer, then switched to acting and won the hearts of all movie lovers with his comedic performances and use of the Thrissur slang.

He has appeared in about 750 films throughout a career that has lasted more than four decades.

Due to his enormous popularity, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) put him forward as an independent candidate from Chalakudy in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, where he easily defeated then-Congressman P.C. Chacko.

Benny Behanan, the head of the Congress, defeated him in his bid for reelection in 2019.

In 2020, Innocent’s cancer relapsed, and following his recovery, he appeared in a couple movies.
