Mahesh Babu has landed in legal trouble over a real estate scam involving Sai Surya Developers, a Hyderabad-based company he promoted.
He earlier received notices from the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to the same firm. Now, the Rangareddy District Consumer Commission has also sent him notices after several complaints were filed.
According to reports, Mahesh Babu was paid Rs. 3.4 crores to promote the real estate brand. Many people invested in the project, trusting the promotions, but later found out that the company did not obtain the required approvals.
When the project failed to take off, Sai Surya Developers reportedly didn’t return the investors money. Frustrated investors approached the Consumer Commission, which has now issued notices to both the company and Mahesh Babu.
The case has drawn a lot of attention, raising questions about celebrity endorsements and the responsibility stars have when promoting such ventures.
