Mahavatar Narsimha Sets New Benchmark

Animated films in India have mostly performed well on TV and OTT platforms with only a few seeing moderate success in theaters.

Movies like Hanuman and Roadside Romeo did decently but could not make a big impact. But Mahavatar Narsimha a devotional animated film directed by Ashwin Kumar, has changed the game.

Released in multiple languages the film saw a steady rise in collections thanks to strong word of mouth and family audiences.

By the end of its second weekend, it crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark, making it the first animated film in India to reach that milestone.

Backed by this massive success, Hombale Films announced plans to expand the Mahavatar universe with six more films planned by 2037. This marks a turning point for Indian animation, showing strong audience interest in culturally rooted stories.
