Madhubala’s Sister, Madhur Bhushan, Demands Permission Before Telling her Story

Madhur Bhushan, the late actress Madhubala’s sister, has issued a notice through her lawyer stating that they are in the process of making a film about the actor. The notice also says that if anyone wants to make a film about Madhubala’s life or story, they must present documented proof to Madhur Bhushan, and it will be Madhur’s decision whether or not that person is allowed to make the film.

The notice also states that “claims and/or objections received after the stipulated 10 (ten) days and/or claim(s) received without adequate documentary support shall not be entertained, and all such belated claims shall be deemed to be invalid and/or deemed to have been summarily and unconditionally renounced/waived by such claimants, and our client (Madhur) shall not be responsible or liable to consider any such belated/frivolous claims.” The notice also states that “if no claim(s), as mentioned above, are received within the stipulated timeline, Madhur Bhushan shall proceed with the development, creation, and production of the Film, without any further obligation to anyone whatsoever, after 10 days of the notice.”

Much has been said and written in the past about Madhubala’s family needs to be on the same page when it comes to retelling her life story in a biopic.

Madhubala ruled the marquee in the country’s post-independence era, becoming one of the highest-paid entertainers of the time. Madhubala was known for her charismatic beauty and appeared in films such as Mughal-E-Azam, Mr. & Mrs. ’55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Kala Pani, Kala Pani, and others. She died in 1969, at the age of 36, of congenital heart disease.
