Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has filed a complaint against producer Sandeep Singh and director Ajay Bahl for using his registered title Chandni Bar for their sequel, Chandni Bar Returns, without permission. IMPPA has asked the team to stop using the title immediately.
The sequel, based on Bhandarkar’s National Award-winning film Chandni Bar starring Tabu, is being made by Sandeep Singh and Ajay Bahl.
However, Bhandarkar, who owns the rights to the title, claimed the makers used it without approval.
In a letter to Singh and his production house, IMPPA stated that Chandni Bar is a registered property of Bhandarkar Entertainment.
Any use of it without written permission is unauthorized and may lead to action. The association has instructed the makers to stop using the title immediately in any form.
