Madhubala Was in Love with Premnath , Reveals her Sister

Before falling in love with Dilip Kumar, Madhubala was in love with Premnath, according to her sister Madhur Bhushan, but their contrasting religious beliefs caused a blockage.

Madhubala, a legendary Bollywood actor who has been a fan favourite since the late 1940s, turns 90 on Tuesday. Although she is well known for her love of Dilip Kumar and marriage to Kishore Kumar, it is less well known that her first love was Premnath. In addition to her on-screen persona, she was also referred to as the tragedy queen of Bollywood.

Madhubala, who was born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi, began acting at a very young age, making her screen debut in the 1942 movie Basant at the age of. In 1947, she appeared in Neel Kamal, a movie starring Raj Kapoor, Begum Para, and other adults.

When asked if Madhubala had feelings for Premnath before discovering Dilip Kumar, Madhubala’s sister Madhur Bhushan replied, “But back then, Hindus and Muslims weren’t getting married. The world has changed today. My father disapproved of their friendship, claiming that he had obligations to the family.

She went on to explain how the Bollywood star let Premnath go, saying, “It wasn’t difficult for her. It was only a transient union. Both desired to advance in their careers. It seemed that when a boy meets a girl, they begin to envision a future together.

Madhur has previously spoken about Madhubala’s devotion to Premnath. She had revealed to Filmfare in 2013 that the actor had fallen in love with Premnath at initially, but the romance had only lasted six months before it ended “on grounds of religion.” Premnath wanted Madhubala to become a Christian, but she declined, according to Madhur.

Later, Madhubala and Dilip Kumar became close, but their relationship fizzled out. Before they travelled for her treatment in London in 1960, she was married to Kishore Kumar. They stayed together till her passing in 1969. She had been given two years to live by physicians before she travelled to London, yet nine years passed while she was bedridden.
