This weekend saw the release of several movies, including ‘Gaami‘, ‘Bhimaa‘, and ‘Premalu‘, keeping movie enthusiasts occupied. However, the spotlight shifted to an intriguing Bollywood project called ‘Shaitaan’, a horror thriller. Starring Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, and Madhavan, the film garnered significant attention with its trailer.
With mixed reviews, ‘Shaitaan’, a remake of the Gujarati film ‘Vash’, grossed 14 crores on its opening day. With no serious competition, it is expected to do well in the next days. The story revolves around Kabir (Ajay Devgn) and Jyothi (Jyothika), a married couple who have a teenage daughter Janhvi (Janki Bodiwala) and a son.
Madhavan plays a hypnotist who manipulates Ajay Devgn’s daughter, forcing her to follow his directions. As the situation worsens, Kabir attempts to free his family from Madhavan’s hands. While the plot lacks big surprises, it does provide multiple thrilling moments. Director Vikas Bahl stays true to the original Gujarati film, providing moviegoers with a riveting narrative.
While ‘Shaitaan’ may not be as captivating as ‘Virupaksha‘ or ‘Maa Oori Polimera‘, it merits attention for Madhavan’s outstanding performance, which induces spine-chilling moments. Janki Bodiwala also delivers a commendable performance, complementing the seasoned acting of Ajay and Jyothika.
