Once a top director, Murugadoss tries to regain his glory with Madharasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini. Audiences had low expectations. Did he make a successful comeback?
Madharasi Movie Story: Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan) has a rare condition called Delusional Syndrome, making him see anyone in trouble as his own and helping them. Malathi (Rukmini Vasanth) loves him for this. Because of his syndrome, Raghu gets caught in a major syndicate war. What is this syndicate? How does Raghu escape and fight them? That forms the story of Madharasi.
Performances: Sivakarthikeyan impresses with strong acting, dialogue delivery, and action scenes. Rukmini Vasanth puts in her best effort, while Biju Menon’s role feels routine. Vidyut stands out in action but less as an actor. Other supporting characters are ordinary, making the overall impact limited despite some strong performances.
Technical Aspects: Anirudh’s music fails to elevate Madharasi, with no memorable songs and only occasional effective background score. Cinematography, lighting, and production design are top-notch. Action scenes, especially the climax fight between Sivakarthikeyan and Vidyut, impress, though some shots aren’t perfect.
Murugadoss leans on his Thuppakki style, but weak screenplay and disconnected characters, the hero’s syndrome, the syndicate, and the heroine, make the film inconsistent, resulting in another disappointing outing despite some highlights.
Analysis: Sivakarthikeyan’s acting and action impress, but weak screenplay and unexplained plot points make the film confusing. Murugadoss comeback claim falls flat, leaving hope that his next movie focuses on a strong story rather than gimmicks.
Verdict: Madharasi has strong action and performances, but weak screenplay and unclear plot leave it disappointing.
Bottom Line: Action-packed, good acting, weak story.
