As the theatres across Kerala are still not opened and there is no clue on when they will start operating, most of the star hero films along with small movies opted for a direct to digital release in 2021. A couple of movies had a theatrical release after the Covid first wave but after the dangerous circumstances created due to the Covid second wave, the films took the online release route.
