Legendary director K Viswanath is no more. As per the media reports, he passed away in the late hours of February 2nd at his residence in Hyderabad.
K Viswanath was 92 years old. Age-related complications are the main reason behind K Viswanath’s demise. Kasinadhuni Viswanath aka K Viswanath was an Indian Telugu film director, screenwriter, and actor.
K Viswanath was a recipient of five National Film Awards, seven state Nandi Awards, ten Filmfare Awards South, and a Filmfare Award in Hindi. The creative director was honored with the “Prize of the Public” at the “Besançon Film Festival of France” in 1981. In 1992, Viswanath received the Andhra Pradesh state Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, and the civilian honor Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of arts. In 2017, he was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in Indian cinema.
In 1951, Viswanath started his film career as an assistant director with the Telugu-Tamil bilingual film, Pathala Bhairavi. Eventually, he turned director in 1965 with the Telugu film Aatma Gowravam. The film won the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film of the year. Apart from Telugu, K Viswanath directed films in Tamil and Hindi languages as well.
