Indian acting legend, Irrfan Khan debuted in mid-90’s from theatre and created a sensation with his acting style, effortless charm in films like Salaam Bombay and Maqbool. While Salaam Bombay won an Oscar Nomination, Maqbool directed by Vishal Bharadwaj became a sensation in niche cinema sectors. He got National recognition and slowly built on it for International level recognition too. His performance in the film, The Namesake, an English film made many International directors look at him to be cast in their films.
Slumdog Millionaire, Amazing Spiderman and Jurrasic World films had him cast in important roles too. We are sad and grieved to say that such a great talented man has breathed his last in Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai on 29th April, 2020. He was diagnosed with endocrine cancer last year and fought hard with it for over an year in USA hospital. He got cured and completed shooting for his last release, Angrezi Medium. During the shoots, he once again developed cancer cells and hence, he resorted to staying back at home for treatment.
On 28th April, he expressed pain in his colon region and doctors diagnosed that he had an infection there. He breathed his last after trying to recover from the onslaught on many disease. Incidentally, his mother too passed away last week in Mumbai. The actor will be missed dearly by Indian Cinema. He shared screen with Mahesh Babu in 2006 release, Sainikudu as antagonist.
