Karthi’s upcoming film Vaa Vaathiyaar, planned for release on December 12th is now facing legal trouble. A case has been filed in the Madras High Court against the producer KE Gnanavel Raja for not clearing old payments.
Because of previous box-office failures he has already faced many problems and he is hoping this film will give him a comeback. But reports say the movie may not release on December 12th as planned.
The issue goes back to 2011, when Gnanavel Raja and Sunderdas teamed up to produce films together. Later, Sunderdas left the partnership and the High Court declared him insolvent.
An Official Assignee was appointed to check his assets and settle his debts. According to the order Gnanavel Raja must pay Rs 10.35 crore.
The court will review the case again on December 8th. If Gnanavel Raja does not repay the amount Vaa Vaathiyaar cannot release on December 12th.
