“Vikram,” the 2022 blockbuster featuring Kamal Haasan’s grand comeback, has been praised as one of the finest multi-starrers in recent Indian cinema history. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film boasts the talents of National award-winning actors Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, with a cameo appearance by Suriya.
In the movie, Vijay Sethupathi portrays Sandhanam, the formidable leader of a drug cartel working for Suriya’s character, Rolex. Sandhanam meets his demise in the climax of “Vikram,” though the scene left fans speculating about his return, as his actual death was not explicitly shown. However, in a recent interview, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has definitively quashed these fan theories.
He confirmed that the story of Vijay Sethupathi’s character, Sandhanam, has reached its conclusion in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Sandhanam did indeed die in the climax of “Vikram” and will not make a comeback in the upcoming installments.
In future LCU movies, a new character will take the place of the Vikram antagonist and aid Rolex in rebuilding his drug empire and pursuing his political ambitions. Lokesh and his team plan to focus on casting for these roles once they have completed their upcoming Rajinikanth project, tentatively titled “Thalaivar 171.”
