Laxman Utekar Speaks About Choosing Sara Over Kriti for Zara Hatke Zara Bachke!

In a recent interview, Laxman Utekar discussed why he cast Sara Ali Khan in ZHZB rather than Mimi’s Kriti Sanon.

Kriti Sanon, a famous actress with whom Laxman Utekar collaborated on the financially successful films Luka Chuppi (2019) and Mimi (2021) and who is set to appear in his upcoming film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, wasn’t chosen by him. Instead, he went with Sara Ali Khan as the leading lady. Laxman recently broke his silence over the subject and provided an explanation.

Vicky Kaushal and Sara will be a new pairing for the audience to appreciate in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The movie’s tracks are already generating a lot of discussion worldwide. The movie is scheduled to premiere on June 2, 2023.

Talking about choosing Sara Ali Khan, Laxman Utekar shared, “When I think about casting, my idea is to portray the actor in a different light away from the image that they already have.” Explaining further, he said, “In Mimi, we presented Kriti Sanon as a mother who had to put on weight as she was shown pregnant in the film. It was something that she attempted for the first time and it was a completely different look for her. Similarly, I wanted to present Sara in a different avatar. People are appreciating her and also liking her look.”

“There is no reason that Kriti is not a part of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (laughs). I felt Sara was the perfect fit to play Soumya Chawla Dubey (her character in the film). A character demands a certain actor and you come to know it when you’re writing the film. This character required Sara because of her personality, her behavior, her masti, and her naughtiness, and that is what she had to translate to the screen for her role.”

According to the filmmaker, neither Katrina Kaif nor Kriti Sanon could have performed the role as flawlessly as Sara. Are you anticipating Vicky Kaushal and Sara’s on-screen chemistry in this family drama?
