Amitabh Bachchan was unhappy by Irrfan Khan’s improvised moments on Piku, according to the late actor’s wife Sutapa.

Irrfan Khan, a late actor, was regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most outstanding actors. Along with his acting talent, he was respected for his humility and sincerity. Did you know that, on the Piku set, Amitabh Bachchan was furious with him for his acting style?

Irrfan Khan’s late wife, Sutapa Sikdar, spoke candidly about how the National Award-winning actor would improvise certain movie scenes during the book presentation for Irrfan Khan: A Life in Movies. Sutapa recalled an instance when Irrfan created a scene on the fly while filming Piku.

Sutapa reportedly stated that Irrfan would collaborate with the director and writer. By the time they were through, they would have numerous draughts, and when he would go on stage, he would improvise somewhat. He would never improvise just to grab attention, but he would make an effort to subvert the phrase in some way.

For those who are unaware, Sutapa is also a well-known author. She remembered a conversation she had with Piku’s director Shoojit Sircar. Shoojit explained to Sutapa that Bachchan Saab is very organised and well-prepared when he visits, whereas Irrfan improvised and irritated Bachchan Saab. They subsequently grew close.

The entire interval sequence, which everyone found impressive, was improvised, according to Sutapa, and Shubhra said, “Shoojit said he did not have the courage to cut it.” Shubhra further remembered Shoojit once stating, “I would sometimes even be afraid of saying ‘Cut’ when I was directing Irrfan [on the set of] Piku.” The scene at the intermission featured the characters of Deepika, Irrfan, and Big B trapped on a motorway after heated argument

The date of Irrfan’s passing was April 29, 2020. The actor was identified as having a neuroendocrine tumour before passing away from a colon infection. The Pan Macmillan India publication Irrfan Khan: A Life in Movies, penned by Shubhra Gupta, had its Delhi debut on Sunday.
