Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have conducted raids on Gokulam Gopalan, the producer of the recent hit film L2: Empuraan. The film has already faced several controversies.
The raids are taking place at his office in Chennai. Gopalan is involved in various business like hospitality, media, healthcare, education, transport, and logistics.
He recently made statements about removing certain scenes and dialogues from the film after the controversies. According to reports the raids are part of an investigation into a Rs. 1000 crore foreign exchange violation.
ED is carrying out searches at offices in Chennai and Kochi under the Foreign Exchange Management Act.
It’s alleged that Gopalan and his companies were involved in unauthorized transactions. Some cheating cases have also been filed, and a probe under the anti-money laundering law is ongoing.
The producer and distributor of the movie #Empuraan, Gokulam Gopalan, is facing a massive ED raid. Just because he made a movie that made some people uncomfortable, they are raiding his office-a textbook example of fascism in action.
