Kushi is one of the most awaited films as it has Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha as the main leads. The film has been released today and read our review here.

Story: Viplav(Vijay Deverakonda) is a BSNL employee who falls in love with Aradhya(Samantha) but things change when the couple gets married and the issue of pregnancy comes forward. Upon this, their respective families are of different religions and cause more pain in their relationships. How the couple overcomes all their marital issues is the basic story of the film.

Performances: Vijay Devarakonda returns to the romantic genre after a long time and he suits the role of a lover boy quite well. He does well as the frustrated husband quite convincingly. Samantha gets the best part and she does well in her character. Her chemistry with Vijay is quite good. Murali Sharma plays a Gorman and he was good. Sachin Khedekar was also neat in his role. The supporting cast features Lakshmi. Rahul Ramakrishna and others are okay.

Technicalities: One of the biggest highlights of the film is the music by Hesham Abdul Wahab. All the songs are quite good and nicely gel in the narrative. The production values of the film are decent. The camera work in the first half is a highlight. The dialogue and production design are cool. The editing could have been a bit better in the first half when it comes to one fight. The screenplay is okay and so was the writing by Shiva Nirvana.

Analysis: Shiva Nirvana, who last made Tuck Jagadish has once again come back with a romantic drama in Kushi. The story of the film is quite simple and has been narrated in many films before. But it is the presentation that catches the attention of one and all. While the first half of the film is romantic, the second half is filled with emotional family drama. The conflict point is neat and is relatable to many families these days.

The manner in which the ending is narrated without taking any sides is quite neat. The conflict point in the second half has been elevated well. But the drawback of the film is that it is highly predictable and has moments that you have seen in many films. But it is Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha who make things click and make the film a decent watch.

The emotions in the second half work well. But once again, the climax feels a bit rushed. The manner in which the hero’s father and others realize their mistakes is shown in a very rushed manner. Apart from all this, Kushi still has good songs, comedy in the first half, and decent family moments. Just ignore the predictable narration and you will enjoy the film.

Verdict: Overall, Kushi has a predictable storyline of a married couple. But Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha make things work with their sizzling chemistry. The film has a few lows but can be overlooked to enjoy this family drama.
