In an interview, director Kush Sinha revealed that his sister Sonakshi Sinha was always his first and only choice for the lead role in his debut film Nikita Roy.
The film which stars Sonakshi alongside Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal, hit theatres on July 18th and clashed at the box office with Saiyaara starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
Speaking about his casting decision, Kush shared that he had Sonakshi in mind from the beginning.
He explained that the character of Nikita Roy needed someone who could portray both emotional vulnerability and inner strength. “She’s emotionally broken but also determined and stubborn,” he said. “Very few actresses can show that range with such finesse, and for me, it was always Sonakshi”.
Kush added that he needed someone who could bring raw and genuine emotions to the screen and Sonakshi was the perfect fit for the role.
