Exclusive Telugu content provider Aha’s original series, Kudi Yedamaithe has created curiosity among the moviegoers with its promotional stuff. Touted as a thriller, the show was directed by noted Kannada director Pawan Kumar and is out on the streaming channel today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Aadhi ( Rahul Vijay), an aspiring actor works as a food delivery boy as a part-time job to meet his monthly expenses. On the other hand, a cop named Durga ( Amala Paul) becomes an alcoholic due to a personal crisis and gets huge pressure from the higher officers with the serial kidnapping cases in the city. What is the common connection between Aadhi and Durga? How is the February 29th date interlinked with the story? How will they both cross the paths in the proceedings? forms the crucial crux in the show?

Performances: Amala Paul delivers an impressive performance as a cop. She literally lives in the character that was designed with some realistic and rustic flavour. Amala did a good job in all the investigation scenes as a typical and tough cop.

Young actor Rahul Vijay is the show-stealer as his acting brings so much depth to all the crucial scenes. Rahul shines in his role which has a lot of scope to perform. His facial expressions and smart acting in most of the repeat-mood scenes will be loved by the viewers.

Noted actor Ravi Prakash will be seen in an unexpected role and did his part quite convincingly. All the new actors, who did the supporting roles in the series are okay in their respective roles.

Technicalities: Music by Poornachandra and Tejswi is solid as it registers from the start. To simplify, the background score is the backbone for the show as most of the scenes are elevated with the same. The cinematography by Advaitha Gurumurthy is fine but most of the scenes are impaired with not so great visuals effects and CG work.

Suresh Arumugam’s editing work is sharp as he managed to keep things on the right note with hardly unnecessary scenes. Production design and production values are good as the entire premise created for the show eventually take us into the thriller world.

Analysis: Director Pawan Kumar, who earlier helmed dark thrillers like Lucia and U-Turn is back with a similar kind of thriller this time also with Kudi Yedamaithe. Pawan’s idea of making the show with the time-loop concept is appreciable and delivers a decent output with the show. His screenplay has a few cliches in the narrative but is mostly passable with a few thrilling elements placed at regular intervals.

Though the series starts on a slow note initially, it shifts gear and offers good excitement for the viewers in the initial episodes. But the later episodes fall flat with repeat-mood scenes which could have been dealt with in a different way. Adding to the above minutes, the connection between Aadhi and Durga and their time-loop dreams are not showcased in an effective manner.

Overall, Kudi Yedamaithe is a supernatural thriller that creates a good curiosity with the beginning episodes but dilutes the mid-way and ends on a decent note.

Verdict: A Passable time-loop show!!!

Rating: 2.5/5
