Choreographer turned director Brinda’s new film, Konasema Thugs starring Bobby Simha in a key role has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: An easy-go-lucky guy Seshu (Hridhu Haroon) from Kakinada falls for a girl named Koila( Anaswara Rajan) at the first sight. Later, a few unexpected incidents lands him in Kakinada jail. At the jail premises, Seshu develops bondage with inmates Dora( Bobby Simha) and Madhu( Munish Kanth). Later, the trio try to escape from the jail. In the process, what kind of hurdles will they face? What is the actual reason behind Seshu being arrested by the Kakinada police? What is Seshu’s plan B? To know that, you have to watch the film in the cinemas near you.
Performances: Though the film’s lead actor Hridhu Haroon’s first film, he impresses with his performance in the given rough character. His ease in acting and screen presence are major highlights of the film. Especially, he did risky action blocks in a superb manner.
Despite acting with experienced actors like Bobby Simha and Munishkanth, Hridhu Haroon grabs everyone’s attention with his rustic makeover. On the other hand, heroine Anaswara Rajan is cute on screen and did her limited role decently. Her performance in a few scenes registers well.
Noted actors like Bobby Simha, Munish Kanth and RK Suresh acted nicely in their key roles. All the three of them are apt in the given roles and brought depth to the proceedings with their presence. Other padding artists such as Sarath Appani and PL Thenappan are okay in their respective roles.
Technicalities: Music composed by Sam CS is captivating and elevates the mood of the film nicely. While his songs are situational, the background score is done superbly for all key episodes.
The cinematography work by Priyesh Gurusamy is amazing as his framing and lighting setup are done perfectly. The rustic texture in the film is showcased nicely. Editing by Praveen Antony is impressive. The production design work is nice and so are the production values by Riya Shibu’s production house.
Analysis: Brinda who made her directional debut with a class love story, Hey Sinamika (2022), directs Konasema Thugs. The way Brinda and her team handled the script will definitely surprise the audience.
The way she presented the film will definitely impress the targeted audience. Though the film lacks proper title justification, the high moments at regular intervals throughout the film will satisfy the audience. To summarize, Konasema Thugs is a rustic drama that has all commerical elements to attract the audience. If promoted well, the movie will have high chances to mint decent earnings at the ticket windows this weekend.
