Kiran Kumar Meenugu, popularly known as KK, made his directorial debut with Nagarjuna’s Kedi. Though the film was a different attempt, it failed at the box office. After nearly 15 years, he directed KJQ (King Jackie Queen). Sadly, KK passed away due to health issues before the film’s release. Despite this, producer Sudhakar Cherukuri decided to release the movie with confidence in its content. KJQ has now reached theatres. Let’s see how well the film has impressed audiences.

KJQ Story: Partha (Dheekshith Shetty) is an orphan raised by Chicha (Muralidhar Goud). After facing trouble from corrupt police officers, Partha kills one of them. Jackie (Shashi Odela) then kills the officer’s senior and saves Partha from jail. From that point, Jackie starts following Partha’s orders and eliminates his enemies. Partha eventually becomes a powerful gangster and takes control of the city.

However, his growing power makes him arrogant and ruthless. Jackie also loses the woman he loves while carrying out Partha’s orders. Their lives take a new turn when Bhargavi (Yukti Thareja) enters their world. What happens to Partha and Jackie after her arrival forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Dheekshith Shetty delivers a strong performance in KJQ, especially in the climax. Shashi Odela also impresses with his energetic performance in the action scenes and shows good potential. Yukti Thareja adds glamour, but her emotional performance does not fully connect with the audience. Muralidhar Goud does well in his role. Surekha Vani and 30 Years Prithvi appear in brief cameo-like roles. Overall, Dheekshith and Shashi are the major highlights of the performances.

Technical Aspects: Director Kiran Kumar, also known as KK, has chosen an interesting and different concept for KJQ. The characters of King, Jackie and Queen show how society, circumstances and relationships can change people. However, the writing connecting their stories is not always effective. The first half is decent and engaging, but the second half feels rushed. The climax could have been better, as the film ends without a strong conclusion.

Technically, the movie is impressive, with good visuals, background music and action sequences. The producer has maintained good production quality. Despite having a runtime of just two hours, the film sometimes feels longer than expected.

Analysis: KJQ begins with an interesting idea about the limits of ego, friendship and love. Director KK shows how these emotions can cause damage when they go too far. Despite some writing flaws, the film is a better attempt than his earlier movie Kedi.

Verdict: KJQ is a decent attempt with an interesting concept and strong performances, but weak writing and a rushed second half limit its impact.

Bottom Line: Decent Drama With Strong Performances.

Rating: 2.25/5
