Director Poorvaaj’s Rs 1 crore reward announcement for guessing KilleR’s second-half twist created huge buzz and drew audiences to the premiere shows. But beyond the prize, the real question is whether the film delivers enough to win at the box office.
KilleR Story: Police officer Poorvaaj investigates a series of murders with his assistant Gayathri and discovers that the same girl, Jyothi, is linked to all the cases. How she became a terrorist, vampire, and spy forms the mystery. Meanwhile, Karthik’s sister Rai faces a mysterious danger, with her past holding the key to the story.
Performances: Poorvaaj appears as both a doctor and a police officer, which can be confusing. In some angles, he even reminds us of Puri Jagannadh. However, his performance feels irritating in several scenes. Jyothi Poorvaaj, known for her serial and mother roles, does well as the sister and the character suits her family image. But her looks do not fit the roles of a terrorist, spy, or vampire.
Chandrakanth Kolla performs well, though the dubbing by another actor affects the natural feel. Archana Ananth also does a decent job. Several YouTube anchors and public talk personalities appear in the film, but their roles have little impact.
Technical Aspects: KilleR was reportedly made in 25 days on a Rs 5 crore budget. While the cinematography is decent, weak background score and sound mixing affect the experience. The confusing first half tests the audience’s patience with lengthy interrogation scenes. The second half is slightly better, with a well-designed backstory behind the twist. The short runtime is a plus.
Analysis: KilleR has a weak first half and a slightly better second half. Though the Rs 1 crore reward attracted attention to premieres, the film lacks the content to draw audiences to theatres after its release.
Verdict: KilleR starts on a confusing note and offers a slightly better second half, but lacks the engaging content needed to impress audiences.
Bottom Line: A Confusing Thriller With Limited Appeal.
