Varun Tej is looking to move away from lover boy image these days. He acquired that tag after successful films like Fidaa and Tholiprema. The actor wants to try out different films and he signed three films with Sankalp Reddy, Sagar Chandra and Anil Ravipudi. The third film is a multi-starrer with Venkatesh and it is to be produced by Dil Raju with title, F2 – Fun & Frustration.
The actor is now busy with Space thriller in the direction of Sankalp Reddy. The young director proved his craftsmanship with Ghazi, starring Rana Daggubati, Om Puri, KK Menon, Atul Kulkarni last year. The movie became a success at box office and became the first film with war-at-sea theme. He is back with a Space drama and the movie will be a new age sci-fi story with good VFX in a limited budget.
For this film, Varun Tej took training to play an astronaut on screen. He needs to understand the zero-gravity situation in outer space and the film has an emotional core with strong female character it seems. So, the lead actress opposite Varun Tej is highly important. Young Kavya Thapar auditioned for the role and the director liked her tape it seems. He felt she is perfect and the negotiations are going on with her. The actress will be debuting opposite Rahul Vijay this year on Telugu screen. Aditi Rao Hydari is playing another female lead in the film.
