Katrina Kaif has been named the global tourism ambassador for the Maldives a move announced ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s likely visit next month.
This appointment by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation comes amidst improved relations between India and the island nation, which had been strained last year.
The CEO of Maldives tourism, Ibrahim Shiuree, expressed his excitement, calling Katrina a “perfect representative”.
Her role is timed with the launch of the “Visit Maldives Summer Sale” campaign aiming to attract more international visitors to experience the islands natural beauty, marine life and luxury.
Katrina stated she is “honoured” and eager to showcase the Maldives “pinnacle of luxury and natural beauty” to global audiences.
Known for her successful acting career and her own makeup line, Katrina’s popularity makes her a strong choice for this new role.
