Karthik Subbaraj who previously worked as an assistant to director Shankar, revealed that he wrote the basic idea for Game Changer.
Before the film’s release, he praised the story and Shankar’s efforts. However, after the film failed at the box office, Karthik clarified that the original plot about a grounded IAS officer who gets a chance to become a politician, was his idea.
He added that Shankar brought in a group of writers to shape the final script. After the movie received heavy criticism and trolling, Karthik’s comments were seen as a subtle dig at Shankar.
Shankar has been struggling with back-to-back flops. Even before the disappointment of Indian 2 faded, Game Changer turned out to be another setback.
There are no updates about Indian 3 at the moment, and Shankar is currently on a break, needing a strong comeback. Meanwhile, Karthik’s next film Retro, starring Suriya, is set to release on May 1st.
